Q: What does the money raised support?
A: The money from raffle ticket sales supports the club’s operating expenses through the season and into the spring. The Ice Dogs offer the most affordable competitive hockey experience in the DMV. Fundraising in the community helps us keep our costs stable and our program accessible to players from all backgrounds.
Q: What do the winning tickets get?
A: There will be two drawings. First prize is four suite-entry tickets to the Capitals/Kraken game on March 5, 2022. Second prize is four 200 section tickets to the Capital/St Louis Blues game on March 22, 2022. The prizes were donated by Ice Dog families.
Q: What if the winner can’t make it to that game?
A: If the winner can’t make it to the game they won, they have two options: they can pass the tickets on to another family or friend, or they can donate them back to the club, to be awarded to a “back-up” drawing winner. The prizes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged.
Q: What do the players get for selling tickets?
A: The age group that collectively sells the most tickets will earn a visit from Slapshot, the Capitals mascot, at a skating practice. The individual player at each age group that sells the most tickets will win an “Ice Dog Swag Bag” with Ice Dog branded items.
Q: When is the drawing? How will winners be notified?
A: The drawing will take place on Wednesday January 19 via Facebook Live. The Raffle Committee will contact winners based on contact information provided on ticket stubs (so make sure that’s accurate and legible!)
Q: Where do I get my tickets?
A: Team managers will be passing out ticket packets to their players during the first week of December. Each player will receive 20 consecutive numbered tickets, instructions, and a tracking sheet.
Q: How do I sell tickets?
A: Fill out the ticket stub with the buyer’s information, enter it and the amount of money collected on the tracking sheet, keep it in a safe place to turn in by January 9.
Q: How can I sell MORE tickets????
A: Ask your friends, neighbors, family, etc. to support your hockey team! Know any Ice Dog alumni? Ask them too! Buy a few tickets for your own family. Did you know raffle tickets make great stocking stuffers, teacher appreciation, or any other holiday treat?
Q: Can people pay with a credit card, or paypal?
A: Nope, cash and check only! But, you can accept payment your personal paypal or venmo account, and then write a check (or cash) when you turn in your tickets.
Q: Who should they make out the check to?
A: Checks should be made out to Northern Virginia Ice Dogs
Q: What is the deadline for selling tickets?
A: Managers and raffle committee will be collecting your tickets (sold and unsold), trackers, and money during the week of Jan 3-9, 2022. January 9th is the last day to sell tickets and turn in your packet!
Q: What should I do with the tickets I didn’t sell?
A: What do you mean, you didn’t sell all your tickets?!?!? On the off chance you weren’t able to sell all 20 tickets, make sure you turn them back in with your sold tickets and money!
Q: What if I want to sell more than 20 raffle tickets?
A: That’s the spirit! Your team manager has extras if you want to sell more than 20!
